Hey, I’m Steve. I’m the principal of Burchland Park Middle School here in East Longmeadow Massachussetts.
We just had Vive18 here at our school, talked to our eighth graders about making healthy choices and having fun without getting involved in substances. It was an amazing message, really resonated with our kids and something they really needed to hear.
I recommend them highly. So we had Zion come in and speak to our kids for about an hour, talking about the pressures the kids are under to make poor decisions around drugs and alcohol to try and fit in. We looked at the reasons not only why kids do it, but also why kids say no, because the majority of them do say no and make those good choices. And most importantly, they learned about choosing the people around you who are going to help you make good decisions for your future. Was very different because it wasn’t preachy. These kids have heard a lot of the dare type programs that just say no to this and that. This was a lot more interactive, high energy, and again gave the kids perspective that many of them are already doing the right thing and let’s spread that message of how we do the right thing and give it to other people as well.”
